Why did Katju delete his tweets on Gandhi?

Try to make sense of these two tweets by former Supreme Court judge, Markandey Katju, but you will not.

It is not the readers' fault if they fail to comprehend the tweets. The reason these two messages are incomplete is that Katju deleted two other related posts in a chain of tweets. If read completely, it goes like this: "Today, 28th September is birthday of my hero Bhagat Singh. No wonder the Britishers set up statue of their running dog Gandhi in London, instead of setting up the statue of their real enemy, my hero Bhagat Singh, and other genuine freedom fighters like Chandrashekhar Azad, genuine freedom fighters. May they shower their blessings on the Indian people from heaven. Shame on traitor, loyal British agent Gandhi. Surya Sen (Masterda), Khudiram Bose, Ashfaqulla, Rajguru, Bismil, etc who really fought against them Long live Bhagat Singh and the other. (sic)"

Katju is known to hold contrarian views on several issues and personalities. He boldly takes stands which may be against the prevalent and dominant views. He is also known to have stuck to his views. However, on the morning of September 28, Katju posted four tweets one after the other but later deleted two of them in which he called Mahatma Gandhi "running dog", "traitor" and "loyal British agent".

The first two adjectives may have been new but the former Supreme Court judge has on at least one earlier occasion called Mahatma Gandhi a "British agent". In his blog post "Satyam Bruyat" on May 30 on the topic "Gandhi or Bhagat Singh?", Katju had said, "The British left India not because of Gandhi, but because in the Second World War Germany attacked and weakened England, and because of American pressure on the British.

"So our real freedom fighters were Bhagat Singh, Surya Sen (Masterda), Chandrashekhar Azad, Ashfaqulla, Rajguru, Khudiram Bose, Ram Prasad Bismil, etc. They were taking our freedom struggle against the British in the correct revolutionary direction, and had they succeeded we would have had a prosperous India today. But instead our forefathers stupidly deserted them and followed that British agent Gandhi who diverted the freedom struggle towards a nonsensical channel called satyagrah which would be harmless to British interests, and because of our forefathers' stupidity we are still suffering today with massive poverty, unemployment, malnutrition, lack of healthcare and good education for the masses, etc."

Earlier, the former Supreme Court judge alleged that Subhash Chandra Bose was a "Japanese agent", he called Rabindranath Tagore a "British stooge" and said Indira Gandhi was a "power crazy woman" and he stood by them. But it is not known why Katju first called the "Father of the Nation", in front of whose portrait he would have pronounced umpteen judgments, a "running dog" and "traitor" and then deleted them. Did he realise his blunder of going overboard?
