“We are what we repeatedly do, excellence then is not an act, but a habit,” Tony Beig, son of deputy inspector general of police Jammu, Shakeel Baig, has put the quote of Aristotle on his Facebook timeline.
Tony’s Instagram pictures on Tuesday showed what he repeatedly does. One of the pictures shows a policeman sitting near the feet of the DIG. The policeman was helping him to put on his shoes. “Real king – My Dad!! Last time he put his shoes himself was almost 15 years ago #BossLife #King xx.” This was Tony’s caption of the picture. Tony Beig had also posted his own picture playing golf on Facebook and Instagram with the caption, “Golf with Dad before next (flight).” In the picture, an armed security man is acting as the caddie holding the flag stick for the DIG’s son at a golf course. The pictures have gone viral.
The 28-year-old Farhaan "Tony" Beig studied in Australia after passing Higher Secondary Part II examination from Jammu Board. He was running a cricket academy there. Sources said he was not associated with Australian Cricket Board. His current address on Facebook is Beverly Hills, California.
After condemnation started pouring on the social networking sites, Tony removed these pictures from Facebook and Instagram. But it was too late. “For some sons, their identity revolves around the status, money of their Dads. What a shame,” tweeted journalist Bisma Malik, posting picture of the DIG Jammu being helped by a policeman to put his shoes on.
There's no surprise in the way his father lives. Senior police officials live king size life in Jammu and Kashmir. Officials say there is nothing amazing in the pictures posted by the Tony. “Usually when police officials and politicians play golf, it is their personal security guards who act as caddies,” said an official pleading anonymity. Officials say security guards are being used by politicians, senior civil and police officers, and protected persons to do household chores.
DIG Shakeel Beig is the recipient of several medals including police medal for gallantry services given for exemplary acts of bravery and courage.
