Currently, incumbent Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is seeking re-election in Uttarakhand. However, the state leadership of the BJP government in Uttarakhand has gone through frequent changes. Two Chief Ministers resigned in a single term before the party gave the reins in the hands of Dhami. Will it negatively impact the results?
Congress and BSP are the other major parties in the election fray.
India Today-Axis MyIndia Exit Poll predicts that BJP will win the elections with an average of 41 seats, a decline of 15 seats from its performance in 2017, while Congress is expected to win 25 seats.
The exit poll also revealed that the people of Uttarakhand said they would vote for the BJP due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity, signalling a lack of influence of CM Pushkar Singh Dhami.
The exit poll says 35% of the people say Dhami is the preferred CM, with a close contest from Congress’s Harish Rawat with a 32% rating.
