IPL 2022 SRH vs LSG match: 6 players to watch out for today

In today's IPL match, Kane Williamson's Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is up against KL Rahul's Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Here are six key players to watch out in today's match.

In today’s IPL 2022 match, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) faces Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). SRH would want to go into this match with a fresh approach as it lost the previous encounter with Rajasthan Royals by 61 runs.

In fact, Kane Williamson’s SRH has been on a losing spree since previous year’s IPL. In 2021, the team finished at the bottom of the table with 11 matches lost. In 2022 too, even after a complete overhaul of the team, SRH started with a loss.

However, it is too early to comment on performances, given that this tournament has just started.

On the part of LSG, KL Rahul would be breathing a sigh of relief as the team won their first match in the tournament against the mighty strong defending champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK). LSG, in an absolute shocker, chased down the target of 210 with six wickets remaining.

In today’s encounter, eyes would be on each team’s star players. While KL Rahul’s LSG has the power of Ewin Lewis, Ayush Badoni, Quinton de Kock; SRH also has Nicholas Pooran, Aiden Markram and Abdul Samad.

Here are 6 key players to watch out for in today’s match between SRH and LSG:

NICHOLAS POORAN (SRH) VS EVIN LEWIS (LSG)

Nicholas Pooran was the costliest buy for the SRH at the IPL auctions 2022. The franchise bagged Pooran for Rs 10.75 crore. The West Indian batter plays an attacking game, which makes him a good pick for the shorter format. Though Pooran was out on duck after facing nine balls in the last match, it would be wrong to undermine him on the basis of just one innings.

The West Indian batter has played some crucial knocks in IPL too. He was with Punjab Kings (PK) before joining SRH. Apart from being a powerful hitter of the ball, Pooran is a quick fielder too. All these make him a top player to watch out for.

Against Pooran is the power of Evin Lewis, who is also a powerful West Indian batter. Lewis single-handedly turned the game around the last time, against CSK, when the team chased down the target of 210 runs. In the match against CSK, Lewis scored 55 off just the 23 balls he faced. He will be an interesting player to watch out for in today’s game.

AVESH KHAN (LSG) VS BHUVANESHWAR KUMAR (SRH)

LSG's Avesh Khan has been an impressive bowler so far. In the last match, Avesh conceded 38 runs but also took two wickets. In the first match against Gujarat Titans too, Khan got a wicket. Today, he will bowl against the likes of Kane Williamson, Mohammad Samad and Nicholas Pooran. It will be interesting to see how he performs today.

Against Khan is Hyderabad’s swing master Bhuvaneshwar Kumar. In the last match, Kumar got one wicket and conceded 29 runs. He has also been one of the leading wicket takers of Sunrisers Hyderabad. He is also the main attacking bowler of SRH. With Kumar on their side, SRH can effectively counter the attack of KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock, Evin Lewis and Deepak Hooda of the LSG.

QUINTON DE KOCK (LSG) VS AIDEN MARKRAM (SRH)

LSG's Quinton de Kock opened an explosive innings in the last match with KL Rahul. The duo stood smashing the CSK bowlers for more than 100 runs. Quinton de Kock scored 61 off 45 balls. By the nature of his game, he is an attacking player. Especially in the power-play overs, De Kock can be destructive. Today, he will be up against the likes of Umran Malik and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar.

Against De Kock is SRH’s Aiden Markram who in his last match scored 57 off 41 balls. In the entire innings, Markram scored two sixes and five fours. He was a surprise pick in 2021 when he replaced David Mallan of Punjab Kings. In the six matches he had played, Markram scored 146 runs at an average of 29.20 and strike rate of 122.68. Markram would be a player to watch out for in today’s game.
