7 desi wedding fights that went too far

Weddings are all about celebrations and love. Small fights, arguments and clashes among relatives are also some compulsory bits of an Indian wedding.

But there are always exceptions. Some weddings invite huge fights and as a result, the wedding is called off. And this is the least damage that can perhaps happen at a wedding.

In other cases, someone dies or gets severely injured. Yes, all of these are not synonymous with a wedding and definitely not a part of anyone’s wedding festivities. But still, quite common!

Here, we bring you a list of bizarre wedding fights that made headlines.

7 shocking wedding fights

1. FAMILY MEMBERS STABBED OVER MUSIC

In an incident from Kapil Nagar, Nagpur, four drunken guests at a wedding stabbed the groom’s friends and bride’s brother for music being stopped during the celebrations.

The police officer further informed that the wedding took place on Saturday, April 9, and a reception was held near the groom's house the next day, April 10.

“The music was stopped as the four had begun creating ruckus after getting drunk. The groom's friend and the bride's brother were stabbed. They are in hospital," the police officer said.

2. GROOM SLAPS THE BRIDE

The internet is loaded with funny wedding clips and they go viral every now and then. Another wedding video that went viral (but is not funny at all) is in which the groom slaps the bride during the jaimala ceremony.

In the video, the bride refuses to eat sweets from the groom’s hand. This makes the groom angry and he throws the sweet at the bride’s face. Then the bride too throws the sweet at the groom’s face.

This upsets the groom so much that he starts slapping the bride.

This video went viral on social media with more than 2 million videos.

(We really hope the bride called off the wedding.)

3. RASGULLA FIGHT

In 2017, an argument between the bride’s relatives and the groom’s turned into a huge fight at the wedding venue.

The incident took place in Kurmapur village, Uttar Pradesh.

The groom’s cousin asked for two rasgullas, but the bride’s relative served only one because he was instructed to do so.

This invited some harsh arguments and gajab bezzati, and the groom’s cousin also dragged in the bride’s father into the fight. Later, cops were called in to sort the matter.

However, the bride did the best thing possible. After seeing her father being insulted and beaten up, she called off the wedding.

4. FIGHT BETWEEN FAMILIES WHILE DANCING

In another incident, the wedding venue turned into a wrestling ring.

In November 2021, the family members of the bride and the groom got into a fight while dancing.

This incident took place in Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh. In the fight, both the parties used chairs, resulting in huge chaos.

5. CLASH OVER DANCING

In November 2021, a wedding in Uttar Pradesh did not go as per plan.

The groom’s friends didn’t stop dancing after reaching the venue. This resulted in a delay in wedding ceremonies.

The bride’s family first requested them to stop dancing, but all in vain.

Later, they started assaulting the groom’s friends. After this, the groom, along with his friends, went to the police station and filed a complaint.

The rest of the wedding rituals took place under the police’s observation.

6. 1 DEAD, 4 INJURED BECAUSE THERE WERE NO PLATES

During a wedding ceremony in Bikrampur, Uttar Pradesh, the guests turned violent because the organisers ran out of plates at the wedding venue.

This fight led to the death of a 20-year-old youth, and four people were injured.

7. VIOLENCE OVER FOOD

Weddings are an extravagant affair. And food, the quality of food and the quantity of food are perhaps the most important factors at an Indian wedding.

In 2019, an incident took place at Piccadily Hotel, Janakpuri, Delhi. The argument started over the quality of food and became so brutal that damages to the property were reported.

The bride’s family, the groom’s family and the hotel staff, were all involved in this big fight.
