Nap and Relax: Sleep offers you multiple health benefits. Here are 5 of them

A nap can solve many problems, most importantly it can take away your stress. Imagine having the freedom of taking a nap on a workday. Cool no? In between a stressful day, a nap will give you the required energy to finish the rest of the day. You’ll be surprised to know that many are doing so (all thanks to work from home). According to a survey by Plushbeds, a luxury manufacturer for bedding in the US, around 80% of Gen Z workers are more likely to take a nap at work.

  • Early morning nappers also reported better work-life balance and productivity.
  • A very small per cent of the sample set preferred taking a nap during the evening or in the night.

A LITTLE BIT OF SLEEP IS HARMLESS

3. PUTS YOU IN A BETTER MOOD

Having a bad day at work or experiencing Monday blues? Take a nap. It fixes your mood and lightens up your day.

4. IMPROVES MEMORY

Akanksha Pandey, Clinical Psychologist at Fortis Hospital, Bangalore explained, "A short nap allows the mind and body to rest without entering the deeper stages of sleep. It helps in increasing alertness and improves your memory."

5. YOU WILL NEED LESS CAFFEINE

Caffeine helps you survive the day but with a price. Consuming too much caffeine can disturb your sleep patterns and trigger several health issues. So, instead of drinking another cup of coffee, take a nap.

Psychologist Akanksha advised that your nap should be 20 to 30 minutes long. You should also designate a different place to take a nap and set alarms for best results.

Happy napping!
