Alia Bhatt took a bold risk in THAT blouse but it did not pay off

At Aditya Seal and Anushka Ranjan's 3-day wedding, if there was a standout bridesmaid, it was Alia Bhatt. The fashionista sported a pink sharara and a bralette top of the same colour with a cape for the mehendi.

For the sangeet, she wore a bright neon embroidered lehenga with an ornate, billowy skirt and a cutaway, backless blouse. The lehenga was designed by Manish Malhotra. She accessorised it with danglers and a bindi, while keeping the makeup minimal and clean with rosy cheeks and a touch of highlighter. The point of this story is exactly this look of Alia's, but let's get you up-to-date with what else she wore to her bestie Aunshka Ranjan's wedding.

At the wedding, Alia wore a yellow sari with a pink blouse and accessorised the outfit also with danglers and a black bindi while keeping her makeup to a minimal.

Now, to the outfit that has become the talk of the town.

Alia is famous for her Indian outfits and is known to play it 'safe' - especially with her lehengas. This time, the actress took a risk by showcasing her underboob in her sangeet outfit blouse. While her risk has been appreciated far and wide (Instagram is abuzz), the style of the blouse and the colour combination did not support it. Alia has proven multiple times in the past that she can ace all shades of yellow with different styles of blouses, but this time the colour was just off. Her choice to let her hair flow free at the event made the situation even worse.

This colour combination did not pass the winter colour check, nor the evening shade check. Had the pink or the yellow in this lehenga been of a darker hue, there would have been significant improvement in the outfit. The high neckline with her underboob cut, free-flowing hair and danglers essentially became too many elements for her to pull off.

Along with this, the heavy detailed work on the lehenga was not done justice to in this colour combo. Had the work been done in a darker shade of pink, it would have been visible from far off too. What I'm guessing her main intention was with this lehenga (her showing her underboob), easily got lost in the look. Whatever rest stood out, wasn't flattering.

This is not the first time that Alia has played around with blouse styles. For Diwali, the actress wore a purple Sabyasachi lehanga that was loved by all. What worked for her in the outfit was the colour of the lehenga as well as the deep neckline of the blouse. Her signature danglers and free-flowing hair were able to do justice to the blouse style and none of the elements clashed with each other. The purple also passed the winter colour check and the intricate details on the lehenga did not overpower her blouse.

All I can say is, even though Alia took a bold risk that could have worked in her favour, the other elements of the lehenga didn't let the risk be a success. Better luck next time!
