While debating religious freedom on Fox News, Republican Muslim Coalition President Saba Ahmed lambasted 2016 Presidential candidate, Donald Trump, who had announced to shut down mosques if chosen as the President. "I just wanted to show that Muslim Americans celebrate our patriotism, too," she said. "So I went on the show wearing the flag to show that we’re proud Americans. We want to live in peace. And what ISIS is doing doesn’t represent our religion, and we shouldn’t be targeted because of a few bad people."
Talking as a guest speaker on “The Kelly File” on Wednesday, she received a mixed response from the people who watched the show. While many praised her for coming out and showing patriotism towards America by wearing an American flag hijab, many thought it was an insult to the flag. “She has used our [American flag emoji] as head gear & hijab this is wrong,” tweeted user @Iamhatgy. "American flag should & could not be used as a clothing item."
People are upset Saba Ahmed wore an American flag hijab but not at the plethora of American flag swimsuits. Another day that ends in y.
