Bigg Boss 11 blog: Why inviting family members to the show was a horrible idea

Will the luxury budget task get cancelled as family members start fighting?

When Hiten Tejwani was evicted from the Bigg Boss house, host Salman Khan had told him not to lose heart, reminding him that the show was just a game and life was waiting for him outside. It’s time he gave the same reminder to the housemates and also their family members, as Bigg Boss 11 has now become a show of mothers fighting for their sons.

The show planners may have thought that inviting family members to judge tasks performed by their kin would be an entertaining twist. But the move flopped so much that there is a buzz the tasks may stand cancelled.

Akash’s mother can’t stand his humiliation

Bigg Boss gave the housemates a task in which they were required to put up a placid face while the chosen contestant would try to invoke emotions in them. And the family members were supposed to judge the best performer.

Akash, being the one who is easily provoked, reacted to almost everybody, earning them points, and so a deal was struck that when his turn came, others would react voluntarily.

However, things didn’t go as planned, with only Priyank, Puneesh and Luv reacting to Akash. This severely upset his mother. The enmity between Akash and Vikas germinated between their mothers too, and Akash’s mother broke down.

Luv was the clear winner, but Vikas’s mother was not ready to give up

For a change, there was a consensus seemingly, as Luv’s antics made the housemates laugh spontaneously. He resorted to his old trick of dressing as a woman, which worked. But Vikas’s mother pointed out that throughout the game, Vikas had been the most composed, reacting the least. She said considering this, his name should also be considered for the winner, and all knives were out.

Unfair game, says Vikas

The housemates, who have not yet met their family members, were allowed to see what was going on in the visitors’ room through television. And that they have already fought among themselves was evident from the expressions of the mothers, which troubled Vikas a lot. He said it was an unfair game, as all the relatives were not parents. It would not be as hurtful for Shilpa’s brother, Hina’s boyfriend and Puneesh’s girlfriend to see their kin being humiliated as it would be for the mothers, he said. “She must have been feeling miserable, I can understand. She is a simple woman. She can’t understand all this politics and strategy. Parents would obviously support their children,” Vikas said.

Why it was a really bad idea

Bigg Boss is not a gentleman’s game. Making family members part of this mud-slinging created a situation of disrespect for everybody. While Bandgi, Puneesh’s girlfriend, Rocky, Hina’s boyfriend, and Asutosh, Shilpa’s brother, were feeling cornered by the four mothers, housemates also started bitching about the mums. Shilpa was heard saying, “They don’t have to cook here, so they are busy bickering all day”, while Puneesh remarked, “Tt’s a Bigg Boss of aunties now”, bringing disgrace to the show.
