Romil Choudhary: How the son of a farmer from Haryana reached the top 5 in Bigg Boss 12

Bigg Boss is not an easy show to be part of. The job becomes more difficult if you are a commoner and not a celebrity. Commoners don’t even get an effortless entry into the Bigg Boss house because they have to apply and audition to be part of the show.

Then comes the task of surviving weekly evictions, which are mostly based on voting. Commoners can only survive in the house by being good entertainers and playing the game smartly, which includes outsmarting the others in weekly tasks.

One such commoner contestant, who has charted an amazing journey in the house, is Romil Choudhary. Choudhary has reached the top five only on the basis of his game, which he has played rather smartly.

Romil, who is a lawyer by profession, entered the house with Nirmal Singh, a policeman, as one of the ‘vichitra jodis’ (strange partners).

Both Romil and Nirmal had promised to give the other contestants a tough time in the house. While Nirmal was voted out pretty early in the show, Romil has kept his promise. Several celebrity contestants, including Anup Jalota and Neha Pendse, got evicted but Romil held his ground in the house.

Son of a farmer from Karnal, Romil is an advocate in the Delhi High Court.

It was Romil, who was instrumental in forming the ‘Happy Club’, which included Surbhi Rana, Deepak Thakur, Somi Khan and Romil himself. Together the friends provided much-needed relief from daily bickering in the house and gave the show good fun time.

Romil succeeded in keeping his cool through most part of the show and was always the one to back out in case of heated arguments, which is reflective of his maturity — not a common trait among Bigg Boss contestants.

On December 27, the audience chose Romil over Surbhi Rana in the midweek eviction, making him one of the top five contestants of the show.

His looks have earned him the praise of the many female viewers of the show. The 27-year-old advocate sports typical desi looks and loves playing sports. In fact, he met Nirmal during cricket matches and the two reportedly decided to audition for the show while playing cricket.

He has also shown amazing grace in handling the way celebrity contestant Dipika Kakar has treated him. Kakar said she hates Romil and doesn’t see the possibility of ever burying the hatchet with him — not even after the show is over.

Despite this, when Romil was asked to convey his final message to the other contestants assuming he has to leave the house, he showed amazing humility and reached out to Dipika to end their differences. Dipika smiled back to Romil’s show of grace.

Luckily, for Romil and his fans, he wasn’t evicted.

Can a stroke of luck, help him emerge as the winner?

We will only know when the results are announced!
