How Bigg Boss 12 contestants are using Surbhi Rana to cover up their follies

The most difficult bit about making course corrections in life perhaps lies in the fact that people continue to see us in our old avatars, refusing to believe we have reformed or transformed.

Nobody knows this better than Bigg Boss contestant Surbhi Rana, former MTV Roadies Xtreme contestant.

After all the howling, screaming, crying and attempts at provoking, Surbhi has realised that her behaviour, which she thought would entertain the viewers of the reality show, ended up showing her in bad light.

What people apparently have failed to understand is that Surbhi was not actually the loudmouth, ill-behaved and manner less person that she projected herself to be in order to prolong her stay in the house.

She was only doing it thinking that people would enjoy the drama.

Surbhi, who is a Himachal Pradesh-based dentist and a pharmaceutical scientist, is accused of provoking people in the house to the point where they lost their cool going on to say and do things that they wouldn’t under normal circumstances.

One of her prime targets was former cricketer S Sreesanth.

The unfortunate bit about Surbhi’s journey in the house has been that she came to be blamed for other people’s behaviour completely.

Sreesanth is no saint.

His histrionics in the house have often irked both the inmates of the Bigg Boss house and the audience. There isn’t a soul in the house that Sreesanth hasn’t fought with, including his ‘sister’ Dipika Kakar. But he has conveniently shifted the blame for all his dramatics to Surbhi’s provocations.

It is not like Surbhi hasn’t misbehaved but so have the others, especially Sreesanth, who has not just disrespected people in the house but the show itself by repeatedly saying he wants to leave it. He has commented on people’s looks and regretted being part of the show which he condescendingly refers to as ‘such people’.

There is no explanation on why Sreesanth hasn’t actually walked out of the show despite all his problems with it and its participants. He clearly was shouting and faking his desire to get out of the house, much like Surbhi Rana was faking her anger.

But it is Surbhi who has come to be the most despised character of the show.

During the show aired on December 24, Surbhi was given a secret task by Bigg Boss to provoke Dipika Kakar to the point that she starts crying and Sreesanth intervenes in the fight.

The success of the task was supposed to determine whether the contestants would get the gifts sent for them by their family members for Christmas.

Surbhi, who was in no mood to provoke anyone, performed the task because she has true sportspersons spirit. She told Dipika that she was a failed actor.

Dipika Kakar is known for playing the role of Simar Bharadwaj in Sasural Simar Ka.

However, despite getting to know later that Surbhi was only doing it for the task, Dipika refused to let go and once again lashed out at Surbhi for being mean.

Surbhi clearly looked perturbed and went up to Dipika to offer an explanation. This despite the fact that it was Surbhi’s performance in the task that won the contestants a pizza party.

Surbhi made mistakes. Show host Salman Khan pointed it out to her after which she started working on herself and did change as a person.

Nobody has credited Surbhi enough for performing the tasks well even in situations where the others chose to give up or not give their 100 per cent.

It is so easy for us to point at people’s mistakes but not credit them for their strengths so that we appear better.

Surbhi is a changed person. But her competitors in the house won’t acknowledge that. This makes Surbhi’s journey rather unfortunate.
