You might have come across many ways that can help prevent Covid. Earlier, we told you the importance of wearing an N95 mask, followed by the role of weight loss in preventing Covid.

ON A SERIOUS NOTE: Firstly, the pandemic is not the right time for leisure travel, especially when Covid cases continue to rise at the speed of light. But for those who have to travel for work or any other urgency, here’s a tip for you.

SO, WHICH SEAT SHOULD YOU CHOOSE ON A FLIGHT? As per studies, choosing the window seat in a plane can help you reduce the risk of getting infected with Covid-19, as well as flu. Several studies have highlighted how this concept works.

According to an Insider report, choosing the window seat might help because those sitting on the aisle seat are more likely to come in contact with other passengers. And sitting on the window seat takes you more than a meter away from the aisle.

SIMILARLY, FOR FLU

It is also a great tip that can help you prevent illness during the flu season. Wearing a mask, using hand sanitiser and social distancing can help you automatically prevent flu and while flying, choosing the right seat can add brownie points.

According to a study, sitting within three feet of a sick passenger, known as the infectious zone, can put you at an 80% higher risk of catching the flu.

So, a window seat can help maintain that distance. Also, many airlines have now decided to keep the middle seat vacant amid the Covid-19 pandemic. This also helps maintain adequate distance.

Now other than a great view, you have more reasons to choose a window seat.

OTHER TIPS TO TRAVEL SAFELY DURING THE COVID PANDEMIC

  • Follow all Covid guidelines for your safety and others' too. Wear a mask, maintain social distancing, use hand sanitiser after touching surfaces and do not sneeze or cough without covering your face.
  • Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth. Touching your face after touching a surface may transfer infected droplets into your body. So, keep those hands off your face.
  • Avoid eating and drinking at public places or inside a plane unless extremely necessary.
  • If you see someone with flu-like symptoms, maintain enough distance.

As we are in the middle of the third wave, avoid travelling as much as possible. If you are absolutely required to travel, do not forget to follow the above-mentioned tips.
