Third Wave: Covid vaccine for kids under 15 in India soon

India’s Covid graph has significantly fallen. India recorded 19.6% fewer cases yesterday than the previous day. 27,409 fresh Covid cases were reported in India over the past 24 hours. As per the Health Ministry data, the country’s daily positivity rate is 2.23%.

1. INDIA’S COVID NUMBERS

India has logged 27,409 new Covid cases in the past 24 hours. As per the data available, 347 deaths were recorded in the country.

The country’s weekly positivity rate remains at 3.63%.

12,29,536 Covid tests were conducted and 82,817 people have recovered from the virus in India on February 14.

There are currently 4,23,127 active Covid cases in India as per data updated by Health Ministry this morning.

2. CASELOAD IN DIFFERENT STATES

The top 5 states which have reported maximum Covid cases over the past 24 hours are:

Kerala: 8,989 cases

Mizoram: 2,022 cases

Maharashtra: 1,966 cases

Madhya Pradesh: 1,760 cases

Tamil Nadu: 2,296 cases

3. CORBEVAX FOR KIDS

On Monday, an expert panel of India's central drug authority has recommended restricted emergency use of Biological E's Covid-19 vaccine, Corbevax, for the age group 12 to 18 years subject to certain conditions.

The government is yet to take a decision on vaccination for children below 15 years.

4. DELHI IS NOW ALL GREEN

All the 11 districts in Delhi now fall under the green zone. The South District was in the orange zone till Friday. The national capital’s positivity rate has dropped to 1.37%.

As per the data shared by the government on Monday, Delhi has reported 586 fresh Covid cases and 4 deaths.

5. CHANGES IN COVID RESTRICTIONS

ANDHRA PRADESH: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has announced that there will be no night curfew in the state. The CM has also urged the people to follow Covid-appropriate behaviour.

WEST BENGAL: From February 16, primary schools will reopen in West Bengal. Covid protocols will be followed in schools. The West Bengal government has also lifted travel restrictions for the state. However, incoming passengers must be fully vaccinated or must carry a Covid-negative report not older than 72 hours. Night curfew from 12 midnight to 5 am will continue in the state.
