1. DELHI

Delhi government issued a yellow alert on Tuesday; in simple words, you can call it a mini lockdown. All kinds of gatherings: political, religious and festival-related, and cultural events have been banned on New Year’s Eve. Restaurants, bars, and public transports have been ordered to operate at 50% capacity during non-curfew timings only.

Night curfew timings: 10 pm to 5 am

2. MUMBAI

BMC has banned New Year celebrations, ceremonies, parties and any kind of activity at both confined and open spaces. However, there is no night curfew on New Year's Eve. During night curfews, main restrictions will be imposed at beaches, parks and Marine Drive.

More than 5 people cannot gather at one place between 9 pm and 6 am. Only fully vaccinated citizens will be allowed in public places.

4. CHENNAI

People in Chennai will also face many restrictions on New Year’s Eve. No gatherings are allowed at Marina Beach, Elliots Beach, Neelankarai and East Coast Road. Parking of vehicles near the beach has also been banned.

Movement of vehicles will be prohibited on beach reads on December 31. Other than these, any kind of New Year’s celebration in resorts, farmhouses, clubs, auditoriums and any other places are banned. Entertainment, dance or DJ events are also banned.

Other gatherings, meetings, conferences and weddings will include not more than 300 people.

Night curfew timings: From December 28 till January 7 from 10 pm to 5 am.

6. GOA

Many people from all across the country are travelling to Goa for New Year’s Eve celebrations. Before you plan yours, you should know about the Covid restrictions.

To attend parties and celebrations on December 31 in Goa, you need to carry your double vaccine certificate or a Covid-19 negative report. There is no night curfew for now.

7. HYDERABAD:

Just like Goa, there are no strict Covid restrictions in Hyderabad on New Year’s Eve. Those who are fully vaccinated are allowed to participate in the New Year celebrations. Thermal screenings and social distancing will be taken care of.

While that was about restrictions in seven major places in the country, the better idea, as you might have realised by now, is to stay home. Mask up if you're going out. Bottomline: stay safe. The third wave is upon us.
