Love playing Wordle? 6 addictive word games you can play for free

Earlier, people used to start their day with the Crossword in the daily newspaper with their morning cuppa. Now, like the rest of the things in the world, word games have also gone through a process of digitalisation. Now, we play them on our phones.

As you all know, Wordle is the big sensation right now in the world of word games. It has gained popularity on social media and we cannot stop talking about it. So now, every morning starts with some green, yellow and sometimes all-grey boxes. If you too are obsessed with Wordle or you’ve moved on from the game after the big acquisition, here are some other games that you can try. Best part: they're all free!

WORD GAMES OTHER THAN WORDLE YOU CAN TRY

1. CROSSWORDLE

In Crosswordle, you have to guess two words crossing each other. You have to guess the two words in minimum number of guesses. The game uses the same concept as Wordle: the right letter at the right place will turn green and the right letter at the wrong place will turn yellow.

Plus, the two words are related to each other. You can try Crosswordle through your browser.

2. WORDS WITH FRIENDS

Words With Friends is a popular multiplayer game that allows you to play with others and even strangers. It is very similar to the classic board game scrabble.

Just like Ludo, which we played day and night during the first lockdown, you can play this game with your friends through your game username or Facebook profile. The game can also assign you a partner from the other corner of the world.

You can also choose the single-player mode. You can play it online.

3. WORDLE (NOT THE POPULAR ONE)

There is another word game app called Wordle (if you don’t know the story, read here). This app was developed much before the superhit Wordle that has now gone to NYT.

This app offers you multiple word games. Most of them allow you to guess 4, 5 or 6-letter words with the given letters. The application is available for both Android and iOS users.

4. HELLO WORDL

Hello Wordl is a Wordle remake that uses the same concept, but with a little twist. In this game, you can increase or decrease the length of the words. You can choose from 4 to 11-letter words.

So, if you are tired of guessing 5-letter words but want to play a similar game, you should try Hello Wordl.

5. 7 LITTLE WORDS

This is another word-guessing game in which you have to guess not one but 7 words. Hence, 7 Little Words.

You will get 7 hints: basically, meanings of the words that you have to guess. With each meaning, you will be indicated how many letters the hidden word comprises.

You will also get tiles with a combination of letters that will help you frame the word. It is an addictive puzzle game that you can try online.

6. UNOLINGO

A crossword is probably everyone’s first word game. Unolingo follows the same theme. When you start the game, you’ll see some of the letters already filled and you can use rest of the letters only once. You also have a ‘Hint’ button in this game. Initially, the game is free, but later you have to pay. In case you are a fan of crosswords, there are multiple ones available online for free.
