Survey says Indians will give up coffee and sex for vacations. No, really

In Europe, the average weekly working hours must not exceed 48. Employees must rest for at least 11 consecutive hours daily. Employees, according to labour laws, are entitled to at least four weeks of paid holidays every year. Sounds like paradise, doesn’t it? Especially when you consider how things are at home, in India. A Manpower Group report from 2016 stated that Indian millennials spend the most time in their offices, working an average of 52 hours per week. Thus, it comes as no surprise at all that most working Indians constantly dream about vacationing; or so a survey by Expedia, the travel booking platform, would suggest.

According to the survey – conducted in September with 15,081 respondents across 30 countries – working Indians are the fifth-most vacation-deprived people in the world. In fact, Indians are so in need of vacations that they are willing to give up alcohol, dessert, TV and even sex just for an opportunity to get out of the confines of their oppressive cubicles.
