[Beautiful] Meghna Gulzar's tribute to India will immerse you in nostalgia

After her breathtaking Talvar, a riveting take on the 2008 Noida double murder case of Aarushi and Hemraj, Meghna Gulzar is back, this time with a teeny tiny suckerpunch of a film.

India.. India.., a five-minute-long movie on the country good old secularism will make you all teary and mushy for the bygone days, you know before Bharat Mata ki jai debate was blaring from every news channel.

This film, part of India Today Group's "India Tomorrow" series, premiered at the India Today Conclave 2016, held on March 17-18. Five filmmakers, including Meghna Gulzar, Imtiaz Ali, and others, were asked to make shorts, sharing their vision of India in the days to come.

Gulzar's hat-tip to secularism shows a Mumbai trinket-seller, a boy of about twelve or thirteen years, reciting catchy poems and couplets from each religion outside the landmark places of worship in the commercial capital of the country.

Still from Meghna Gulzar's India...India...

He is truly the face of an India we all grew up in, with the Amar Akbar Anthony brand of inclusivity, that is almost on the verge of extinction today.

This is pure nostalgia, but Gulzar perhaps wants us to not let it all slip into the unrecoverable past.
