#DearDaddy: What this unborn girl child tells her father will melt your heart

In a stunning five-minute video, Norwegian charity organisation Care, mostly campaigning for women’s rights, has issued a powerful message on how girls, right from the time they are born, to when they hit puberty, to the years they spend as mature, professional adults, face deeply disturbing levels of casual sexism on a ritual basis. The short film shows a yet unborn girl child requesting her father to nip sexism and misogyny at the bud, right where its inception occurs in shared jokes among boys.

A scathing take on patriarchal violence, on how men call women "whore", "cunt", and other names just for the heck of it, or to relieve themselves of general stress, the film, called Dear Daddy, is a moving account of what a woman goes through almost everyday of her life.

Viewed by several million people, the film has "gone viral". Its important, urgent message couldn't be more relevant in India, which is solemnly commemorating the third year of the henious December 16 Delhi gangrape. This is for Nirbhaya. And Suzette Jordan. And every woman.
