Ram Gopal Varma messed with Rajinikanth on Twitter. This is what happened next
Making a film on a feared bandit should teach you something about running for cover. And Ram Gopal Varma is doing just that these days. Currently promoting his latest, Killing Veerappan, based on the silent killer of the South, the filmmaker is beating a retreat on Twitter after hurting millions of fans of another revered sensation from the South - Rajinikanth, no less.
RGV may have made films on every gangster downtown and beyond the woods, but even that doesn't give him the licence to take a dig at the Thalaiva. After the filmmaker declared, on his Twitter timeline, that a man who looks like Rajinikanth could never become a star anywhere else in the world, Rajinikanth's fans cut him to size (like a boss). The aftermath was too much to take and RGV had to promptly save face by posting a video where the Thalaiva ridicules himself.
Lesson learnt: Don't ever take sides against the family. The Rajini family. Again.
