RBI issues chocolate-brown-coloured Rs 10 note: 15 features you should know about
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is all set to issue new Rs 10 currency notes under the existing Mahatma Gandhi banknote series. The new note will bear the signature of the governor of the RBI, Dr Urjit Patel, and will feature a motif of the Konark Sun Temple, on the reverse side, that the central bank says "depicts the country's cultural heritage".
The base colour of the new note will be chocolate brown and will also come with other designs, geometric patterns aligning with the overall colour scheme. However, the new note will not replace the existing ones already in circulation, as "all banknotes in the denomination of Rs 10/- issued by the Reserve Bank of India in the earlier series will continue to be legal tender", the central bank said.
Here's are 15 new features of the new note.
1) See-through register with denominational numeral 10.
2) Denominational numeral, १०, in Devnagari.
3) Portrait of Mahatma Gandhi at the centre.
4) Micro letters "RBI", "भारत ", "INDIA" and "10".
5) Windowed demetalised security thread with inscriptions "भारत" and RBI.
6) Guarantee Clause, governor's signature with Promise Clause and RBI emblem towards the right of Mahatma Gandhi's portrait.
7) Ashoka Pillar (national emblem) on the right.
8) Mahatma Gandhi's portrait and electrotype (10) watermarks.
9) Number panel with numerals growing from small to big on the top left side and bottom right side.
