If girls who dress like men start thinking like them, we need more men dressing like women

Want to know why women suffer from polycystic ovarian disease (PCOD) at an early age? Well, if this Mumbai college principal is to be believed, when girls dress like men, it reduces their urge to reproduce because of the gender reversals in their heads. Due to this, they suffer from problems like PCOD.

The pioneer in PCOD treatment, principal Swati Deshpande of Government Polytechnic College, says she is keen the girls wear salwar kameez which, according to her, would be more in keeping with their physiological make-up.

At present, the female students of the college wear the same uniform as their male counterparts — white shirt and black trousers.

"I have heard theories on why girls suffer from PCODs at an early age. When they dress like men, they start thinking or behaving like them. There is a gender role reversal in their head. Due to this, the natural urge to reproduce diminishes right from a young age and therefore they suffer from problems like PCODs," Deshpande was quoted as saying by The Times of India.

We wonder what is she doing in a polytechnic college. She should be the dean of the topmost medical research centre for her breakthrough research in PCOD treatment. This can be a genuine game-changer.

The college principal is giving a serious run for their money to the likes BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj and the Shankaracharya of Badrikashram, Shri Vasudevanand Saraswati (they both insist Hindu women should have more children to maintain the majority status of Hindus). In fact, her views are very similar to none other than POTUS Donald Trump who reportedly likes the women who work for him "to dress like women".

The great thinker in Deshpande has also come up with some groundbreaking ideas to curb sexual harassment on campus. The college has already decided on gender segregation in its canteen and demarcated sections for the two sexes using ropes.

While we don't need to consult any expert to know whether Deshpande's theory is unscientific, we definitely can advice her to consult an specialist on mental illness. Deshpande seems not just out of her mind, but should be out of job as well for posterity's sake.

Such academics are a serious threat to the children and the education system as a whole. Even if we believe her theory for a second, would it then not make more sense for all men to dress like women? At least they will start thinking like women and be more sensitive and respectful towards them.

Gender inequality has been a persistent feature of the education system in India. More men dressing like women will go a long way in addressing gender stereotyping and achieving participation of both sexes in all spheres of public and private life.

Apart from that there are more "perks"of dressing like a woman. Remember how maverick yoga guru Baba Ramdev tried to escape from police personnel coming after him at the Ramlila Maidan in 2011 — he was caught dressed in what else but a salwar kameez, with a dupatta wrapped over his beard.
