Is it Love or Priya Prakash Varrier: What gets under our skin more?

It is difficult to believe that Priya Prakash Varrier is still zero-film-old in the entertainment industry. She will turn one when her much-anticipated Malyalam movie (the movie which has that wink scene) is released on February 14.

Yes, you guessed it right. On Valentine’s Day. Because the name of the movie Oru Addar Love translates to 'a superb love story'. And for the last one year, the makers of the movie titillated us with various controversies, clips, Twitter storms, etc., etc.

Teen romance is for those who love to watch high-school shows. The population comprises both those who went to co-educational schools and those who didn’t. For different reasons altogether.

The first lot may relive what all they did in school and forgot — for the second lot, it’s what they never experienced.

One song of Oru Adaar Love, which released in February 2018, came with a whiff of all those things.

A school function, the rush to keep a seat for a friend, eyes looking for someone…

Also, the students are not an SRK or Aamir Khan forcibly getting into the skin of a teenager. They are Priya Prakash Varrier and Roshan Abdul Rahoof — never heard of before.

Surprisingly, these two debutantes did not betray any first-time-like inhibition in the short clips we got to see. Both of them are natural, spontaneous and lovely — be it the scene where Priya winks at Roshan, or where she mock-shoots at Roshan and Roshan pretends to catch the shot.

The wink came under fire as a Muslim group alleged that the song celebrates the marriage of the Prophet and Khadeeja. A wink does not go with the song. The case went to the Supreme Court, which stayed all the cases.

The movie was still not released. Meanwhile, another trailer of a movie starting Priya Prakash, allegedly in the role of Sridevi, released and faced flak.

There were no other activities to revive the memories of the wink sensation.

So here comes a new controversy — a kissing controversy.

A clip of Priya and Roshan kissing. It’s not a liplock. It’s just brushing off the lips lightly — but it's enough for being trolled. People are outraged that such scenes would have an impact on students.

So, you can pine for a high-school romance — but won't let them kiss each other. Go figure.

Isn't love overrated? Or is Priya Prakash Varrier?
