&lt;p id='p_1'&gt;The Google Arts and Culture Lab in Paris is where art meets technology and both triumph. Housed in the Google office in Rue de Londres, in what was formerly the Vatry hotel, headquarters of the&amp;nbsp;Paris-Orleans Railway Company between 1861 and 1938, it has 30 engineers working on various digital initiatives. The not-for-profit Google Arts and Culture Lab began as a passion project by Amit Sood, now director, Google Cultural Institute.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p id='p_2'&gt;The lab does cutting-edge work in making art come alive for a new generation of art lovers, allowing them access to treasures from more than&amp;nbsp;1,400 global museums and galleries on a free app. The access to global treasures creates new possibilities for learning and research, says Google&amp;rsquo;s Pierre Caessa;&amp;nbsp;they range from identifying Marc Chagall&amp;rsquo;s son in the painting on the ceiling of Paris Opera to analysing the state of mind of Vincent Van Gogh as he painted The Starry Night. &amp;ldquo;It can be so emotional sometimes,&amp;rdquo; says Caessa, recalling the time Chagall&amp;rsquo;s son came to the lab to examine the painting.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p id='p_3'&gt;Here he speaks to Kaveree Bamzai on the joys of discovery.&lt;/p&gt;
