Gilles Jacob ended his association with Cannes in 2015

&lt;p id='p_1'&gt;Gilles Jacob was the Cannes Film Festival president till 2014, and did much to put the festival on the map of the world.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p id='p_2'&gt;He introduced the Cam&amp;eacute;ra d'Or and the uncertain regard and now heads Cin&amp;eacute;fondation to promote new talent in cinema. And create a new generation of masters.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p id='p_3'&gt;He says Indian filmmakers should tell authentic stories of life, love and family to be at Cannes. They should be true to themselves. Tell splendid stories that will ring true all over the world.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p id='p_4'&gt;He also has&amp;nbsp;a special fondness for Satyajit Ray, whom he calls one of the 15&amp;nbsp;greatest filmmakers of the world. Says he was so tall that a special bed had to be made for him at Cannes to sleep comfortably. 'Tall. Dark-eyed. He was a noble man.'&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p id='p_5'&gt;In an&amp;nbsp;exclusive interview with me,&amp;nbsp;he also said&amp;nbsp;Netflix will never win the war with the city of Cannes because the spectacle of cinema is for the theatres and the board of the festival has many theatre owners; unless, of course, Martin Scorsese makes a film for Netflix.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
