Gotabaya Rajapaksa leaves for Maldives, leaving Sri Lanka burning

Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa fled to Maldives on Wednesday morning with his wife. He is expected to resign soon. If Rajapaksa steps down as promised, Wickremesinghe will automatically become acting president until parliament elects an MP to serve out the presidential term.
