Why does Trump's Muslim ban and not humanity appeal to Americans?

"The beauty of me is that I'm very rich," Donald Trump said during the US presidential campaign.

We agree. Trump not just has a healthy wad of notes, but also a high count of votes. But when it comes to ethics of power and authority, he is as broke as a Champaran peasant in colonised India of 1917.

Honestly, I have tried to stay away from Washington and its issues, as there are many more to engage in within my own esteemed country. So I saw everything, heard everything, but chose not to react.

Trump said he'd date Ivanka if she wasn't his daughter. I ignored, even though I choked over a peanut I was having.

I heard him say, “I have so many fabulous friends who happen to be gay, but I am a traditionalist." And I quietly gulped my cola.

He gave the idea of "the wall" on the southern border, and even assured that Mexico would pay for it. I didn't say anything. I brushed it off as an ill-founded promise to the gullible voter.

Finally, he got elected as US president and I maintained my calm.

But his executive order to make good on his promise of a ban on Muslims travelling to America struck me like lightning. I stand stirred from my indifference, to say the least, as I sense his intent to see his insane promises through.

I am not talking as a Hillary Clinton supporter, Trump hater, social activist, or as an Islam adherent, but as a simple human being who only wishes good for the world.

To many Americans, it might seem like the deliverance of a promise. Most might feel that it is in the best interests of the US, now that visas have been banned to the country from seven Muslim-dominated countries, including Iran, Libya and Yemen.

Who, in erstwhile America, would have dared to pull a hijab off a woman!?

But if Trump's tyrannous nature, dictatorial temperament and wad of greens could appeal to the Americans so much, why does humanity fail to appeal all the same?

Trump's ideas violate the First Amendment itself. Not only do his decisions hurt the entire population on racial and religious grounds, his mere words inflict the same damage. His deleterious words and insensate policies have been making headlines for months, but it’s only now that they are meeting the realms of reality. Should we be scared!

In the draft of the executive order, 9/11 has been cited as an example of the "visa-insurance process" failure and the Muslim ban is apparently a corrective measure. It is quite similar to Indira Gandhi's dictatorial "preventive detention" during the Emergency of 1975 - No suasive reason, just a consequence.

Ever since the terror attacks and military operations have taken place, anti-Muslim racism has been on the rise in the US, and if that was a desultory kite in the sky, Trump has become the devilish high wind, which only took it to greater heights. Who, in erstwhile America, would have dared to pull a hijab off a woman!?

Worst news, the culture is trickling down. When did the media get a taste of pure impudence at the White House in “Great America” we know?

Much of his campaign focused on empowering Americans, increasing employment, making Americans rich and more. Beautiful thought, but will a country, whose diversity has been its unmatched strength, become great by sealing its borders to talent and brainpower?  I do not seek to protest or hate, I will trust the process. Whatever's destined, for the world and America, will happen. Interpret all this as you may, defend your opinions as you like, but one fact is undeniable - the air is gradually becoming more and more undemocratic in the US.

There is a thin line between being a superpower and being a cruel hegemon, and I believe the US, under Trump, will easily overstep that line.

Before it is too late, our only suggestion would be: Donald Trump, sit on your cozy sofa on the top floor penthouse of the Trump Tower in your silk bathrobe, and pick up the Constitution.

Therein you'll find real ideals and aspirations of great leaders and thinkers, who, through the ideas of democracy, love, harmony and secularism, made America GREAT.
