Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth just had a 'quiet wedding.' Yes, it's a thing now

Wait, what? Did Miley Cyrus just get married to Liam Hemsworth?

Yup, we are not even making this up. The 26-year-old singer walked down the aisle with her 28-year-old beau in a quiet ceremony. And fans of MiLi only noticed when pictures from the intimate wedding started surfacing on social media.

At first, it seemed too sudden and lacklustre to be true — why would Miley and Liam opt for such a quiet wedding, instead of going out all guns blazing?

I mean, have they learned nothing from a fellow singer and a fellow millennial, Nick Jonas?

Imagine how wacky the wedding would look if only they had drawn inspiration from (some of) Miley’s hits.

Wrecking Ball, for instance, could have Miley’s wedding dress. Or Liam’s. We are not picky.

But then, it seems like the Aussies like to keep it quiet. So, Miley was seen in a traditional white wedding dress, while Liam was in a crisp black tuxedo, amidst family and friends, all ready to attack the tiered wedding cake.

No, not with a sword like Priyanka Chopra and Nick did. Although a wrecking ball could have come in handy here, too. Think theme, guys, think out of the box!

To be honest, it IS rather refreshing to not be suffocated under wedding pictures and videos. And it is refreshing to NOT see People magazine covering the event from ground zero.

Aahh! Just like the good old days when weddings were a celebration of love, and not a fashion show or a 4th of July-esque parade.

As per a Mail Online reports, the two apparently said ‘I do’ on December 23rd, in their USD $5.8 million mansion in Franklin, Tennessee.

Umaid Bhavan Palace, take that.

And then, instead of having the whole world over for a ‘begaani shaadi mein Abdullah deewana’ style-dancing, the Hemsworth brothers — Chris Hemsworth and Luke Hemsworth, along with Liam, were seen doing a shotski — the drinking of a celebratory tray of shots.

In their defence, the Hemsworth brothers are ‘worth’ it.

Although it was a Christian wedding — from the look of it — one God of Asgard did preside over the ceremony — Thor. Yes, we had to do that, we just HAD to!

There were ‘Mr and Mrs’ balloons at the back, quietly playing their part. So much better than having annoying aunties hurl instructions — cue, Sonam Kapoor-Anand Ahuja wedding. Sheesh!

Miley and Liam came together after they starred in The Last Song together. Their on-again-off-again relationship had been a source of much contention, especially among fans, even after they got engaged in 2012. But it was only after the two lost their Malibu home in November, did they finally decide to make it official, as per an OK! magazine report. Miley even said on The Howard Stern Show that Liam was her ‘survival partner’ and that, ‘I've never loved him more for this.’

Awwww!

Aside from their absolute adorabs love for each other, two other things this wedding taught us were:

That weddings CAN be quiet. Yes, trust us. Of course, we’ve mostly seen examples of the other, but then, THIS is ALSO possible. Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap first showed us that it's possible. But MiLi have just taken it to another level.

In fact, it is quite simple — just decide to get married, but not to make huge hoo-haa about it. Don't strike a deal with Amazon, don't invite the world, don't tie-up with the press. Just concentrate on the actual event — the wedding!

Honest to whichever God you believe in.

And that we are OLD.

First, Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin got married. Then, it was Nick Jonas. And now, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth.

Sigh! *Goes back to the wine*
