NY Fashion Week kicks off with a bang, featuring Priyanka Chopra, Naomi Campbell, and more
Fashion month has arrived! September is a favorite among fashionistas as it brings with it fashion weeks, runway shows, top brands, and, of course, more fashion. Currently, all eyes are on New York as New York Fashion Week is just around the corner, with pre-events already underway.
'Since World War II'
Before delving into the current highlights, let's take a look at the origins of New York Fashion Week:
- Originally known as "Press Week," New York Fashion Week was first organized in 1943 by fashion publicist Eleanor Lambert.
- It was created as a way to showcase American designers and their collections during World War II, as Paris, traditionally the fashion capital, was inaccessible due to the war.
- Since then, it has evolved into one of the most significant events in the global fashion industry.
Now, let's talk about 2023. This year, Fashion Week will run from September 8 to September 13. The opening show will feature the renowned New York-based designer Helmut Lang, known for his minimalist designs.
Throughout the week, various designers, including Prabal Gurung (who dressed Alia Bhatt for her Met Gala debut), Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, and others, will take to the runway to showcase their talents. You can find the full list here.

Model Naomi Campbell turns designer and takes the runway
- Supermodel, actor, entrepreneur, and singer Naomi Campbell has expanded her already impressive portfolio by venturing into fashion design.
- Campbell presented her latest collection in collaboration with the fast-fashion brand PrettyLittleThing and took to the runway herself to showcase her designs at Cipriani 25 Broadway on Tuesday, just in time for New York Fashion Week.

In her showcase, "PrettyLittleThing x Naomi Campbell," the 53-year-old icon unveiled a collection of 82 looks that paid homage to her iconic '90s style. Campbell worked closely with emerging designers Victor Anate and Edvin Thompson to create a range that featured sensuous mesh outfits, playful short party dresses adorned with sequins, and spicy gowns.
