Shah Rukh Khan's cameo in Baahubali 2 will be 'biggest' by any Bollywood star for South Indian cinema

There's a common joke in the southern film industry — every time Bollywood runs out of ideas it looks towards south for inspiration.

This time around for a change, we hear, Bollywood's King Khan is being approached to do a special role in SS Rajamouli’s epic fantasy drama Baahubali: The Conclusion.

Although there's no official confirmation about his Baahubali cameo, the rumour has already generated a lot of excitement among his fans, especially after the grand success of its prequel — Baahubali: The Beginning (2015). Set to hit the screens on April 28, the makers have been promising that the Conclusion would be bigger and better than the Beginning. The film will star Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Tamannaah, Anushka Shetty and Sathyaraj in lead roles.

The first-look poster of Baahubali 2, which was out in October last year, has already piqued the fans' curiosity.

Although Shah Rukh Khan was recently seen doing a cameo in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, his "keep it sweet and short" appearences in Saathiya and Bhootnath Returns were also much appreciated. But Baahbubali 2 will perhaps be the biggest cameo for any Bollywood star in a South Indian film.

Here's why:

Prabhas, Rana Daggubati and Tamannaah-starrer Baahubali: The Beginning turned out to be one of the highest grossers of 2015 earning Rs 600 crore worldwide.

Apart from an interesting story line and strong characters, Baahubali stunned everyone with its Hollywood-like VFX effects. Simply put, the movie created a new benchmark for VFX in Indian cinema.

While superstars like Amitabh Bachchan (Kandahar, Malayalam; Manam, Telugu) and Anil Kapoor (Chandralekh ) have done some popular cameos in South, Baahubali is considered a different ball game as Rajamouli took visual effects in Indian filmmaking to another level altogether.

Baahubali's popularity also shows Bollywood doesn't alone rule Indian cinema.

The first-look poster of Baahubali 2, which was out in October last year, has already piqued the fans' curiosity. Now everyone's eagerly waiting for the teaser of the movie, which was earlier scheduled to be released on January 26, attached with Shah Rukh Khan's Raees. There were rumours that the first teaser would hit screens in February.
