Street food has everyone’s heart (definitely mine). You will find bizarre combinations of food on the streets. Some of them are worth a try while others are too hard to believe like Oreo pakoda, Fanta Maggi and what not. If you are a 90s kid, you might have enjoyed one of the finest street foods that were totally acceptable and a treat to your taste buds. Remember eating a spicy chaat at just Rs 15-20, followed by a soft drink in a glass bottle with a straw? Well, those were days when streets offered deals better than Swiggy and Zomato.
Here are five of those very popular (and very tasty) street foods you will remember if you are a 90s kid.
1. IMLI AND BER WITH MASALA
The khatta meetha taste of imli with small delicious ber is a great combination that you can still find easily. The masala sprinkled on them is never enough, IKR. This video is from Lajpat Nagar, Delhi, which is quite a street-food hub in the capital.

2. BANTA/GOLI SODA
Remember the guy with a big bunch of soda bottles with a kancha inside them. Yes, the one served with a dash of lemon and black salt. On a bright sunny day, a sip of banta is (literary) all you need.

3. THE EVERGREEN SAMOSA
A 90s party was incomplete without the samosa. In the 90s, after a birthday party, you would get a piece of cake, chips, namkeen, Parle Kismi and a samosa. Samosa is still a go-to snack that you can buy for Rs 10-20 (if you know to skip the fancy restaurants).
There is also a wide variety of samosas available these days: with noodles, cheese or pasta inside them. Try them at your own risk.

4. DESI BURGER
McDonald's was meant for special occasions in the 90s. Meanwhile, desi burger was available on every street. You still may find them. So, enjoy and feel guilty later because of the large amount of oil you consume with it.

5. COLOURFUL SUGAR CANDY
A colourful sugar candy in different shapes is something I always wanted to have as a child but never really got to. The vendor with a stick and bell (to attract kids) turns the sugar into different shapes. Luckily you can still find them, very rarely though. (Hope now, as an adult, I get to have one!)

6. FRYUMS
For a 90s kid, fryums cooked in sand or salt are anyday better than French fries. There are so many reasons to still enjoy them. Healthy, colourful, tasty, affordable, basically an all-in-one deal.

7. SUGARCANE JUICE
Another drink every 90s kid must have enjoyed is sugarcane juice. It is still easily available but in a fancy bottle with a heftier price tag. Just like that friend who went abroad for two years and came back with a new accent.
