Bigg Boss 11: 10 major takeaways from the show so far
This season started on October 1 and the finale will be in 2018.
Starting with 18 housemates, Bigg Boss 11 has entered a crucial phase with predicting eliminations becoming an increasingly difficult task. So far, barring a few, all eliminations were easy to guess. But with Shilpa Shinde and Akash Dadlani being sent into the danger zone, the show is now poised to take strange twists and turns.
Before the boisterous Bigg Boss house turns silent with only the finalists reminiscing about their roller-coaster journey, which began on October 1 and end in 2018, let’s take a look at the major highlights of the season.
Shilpa breaking all records
Though it is too early to predict a winner for this season, Shilpa Shinde, who used to star in Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai, is ruling Twitter. Earlier this week, #ShilpaWinningHearts started trending. With over three lakh tweets supporting Shilpa, she became the most popular Bigg Boss contestant ever.

Shilpa-Vikas love-hate relationship
Inviting both Shilpa Shinde and Vikas Gupta, who was allegedly responsible for Shilpa's ouster from Bhabhi Ji was a masterstroke. And nobody is complaining. The duo started fighting from Day One in front of host Salman Khan. Though housemates have mostly supported Shilpa over being the wronged party, her turning to Vikas from time to time hasn't gone down well with them.
Celebrity-commoner ratio
Unlike earlier seasons, this season had the maximum number of commoners who nevertheless acted pricey. And half way through, what’s the ratio? Well, it’s still balanced. We started with Akash Anil Dadlani, Mehjabi Siddiqui, Lucinda Nicholas, Sabyasachi Satpathy, Luv Tyagi, Sapna Chaudhary, Shivani Durga, Jyoti Kumari, Puneesh Sharma, Zubair Khan, Bandgi Kalra and Arshi Khan — all commoners. Among them Akash, Arshi, Puneesh, Luv are still in the show. Among celebrities we lost two but that is only if you consider Benafsha Soonawalla and Dhinchak Pooja to be celebrities. Hina Khan of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Shilpa, Hiten Tejwani (Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Kutumb), Vikas Gupta (actor, producer), Priyank Sharma (MTV Splitsvilla X) are still inside.
Salman Khan trolled for slamming Hina Khan
If Shilpa Shinde can brag about a Twitter storm in her favour, Hina Khan is not far behind. She has got some committed fans who trolled Salman Khan for slamming her. For those who don't know, every Saturday, Salman Khan takes the housemates to task for things done and not done through the week. And the week Priyank body-shamed other contestants and Hina enjoyed it, Salman criticised both of them only to face the wrath of the twitteratis. All good for TRPs.

Bandgi-Puneesh romance
Bigg Boss is not Bigg Boss without on-screen romance, scripted or spontaneous. This season lacks in that love quotient as Bandgi and Puneesh are the only convincing lovebirds. But it has had serious repercussions in Bandgi's life. Her “boyfriend” Dennis Nagpal reportedly said that he would dump Bandgi. And now, after being evicted, Bandgi has said that the romance was real and she was terribly missing Puneesh. Arshi Khan tried to woo Hiten Tejwani, but it fizzled out with a kiss on Hiten’s cheek during a task.
Zubair Khan upped the drama
First, Zubair Khan claimed that he was related to Dawood Ibrahim and part of the movie Haseena Parkar. After it was proved that all his claims were false, he passed the buck on the show and said he never claimed it. Hurt by Salman Khan's "harsh words", Zubair allegedly attempted suicide on the show by popping some pills. After being evicted, he said he was not evicted but chose to walk out of the show.
Fake and scripted show
Every season, we wait for the eviction of that one contestant, who would come out and say: “It was all scripted”. This time, it was Zubir Khan, obviously. “Salman Khan is a puppet and can dance shirtless for money. I am not Vivek Oberoi, who will get scared of him. I am also not Arijit Singh, who will say ‘sorry bhai’ on social media. I went in the show as a director. I didn’t know they are introducing me as Haseena Parkar’s relative on the channel.”
Changing sides
After eviction, Benafsha Soonawalla has been spitting venom against Hina Khan. In a series of tweets, she has said Hina is a liar and spreads rumours. In a heartfeld Instagram post, Benafsha also regretted hurting Shilpa.

Dhinchak Pooja’s crooning
Afer Dhinchak Pooja survived Salman Khan's roasting on day one, she hinted that she won’t give up soon. Though her eviction was a surprise, she didn’t fail to leave any sign behind. With Akash and Arshi, she came up with another atrocious song on the Bigg Boss House.

Katrina Kaif's guest appearance
Though it was a very short stay, Katrina Kaif charged up the housemates arranging her "swayamvar". The boys made roti and performed belly dance to impress her.
